We will have an auction each issue unless we receive fewer than 50 lots by the deadline. Please send singles, sets, FDC's and covers related to first issues - basically anything you think other FICC members would be interested in owning. Drop the Auction Manager a note if you have any suggestions for improving the auction.

Auction rules.

  1. Minimum bid is 10¢ (unless otherwise noted).
  2. Submit bids by either postal mail or email to the Auction Manager. Bids should contain lot # (and description as a double check) and the amount you wish to bid. Include your name, FICC# and address on the bid sheet.
  3. If you wish to bid to win just one of duplicate lots, use OR between the numbers on your bid sheet.
  4. Bidders may specify the maximum total amount he/she will pay for all winning bids.
  5. Highest bid wins. In the event of tie bids, earliest postmark or email date stamp breaks the tie among club members. Bid what you are willing to pay; winning bids are rarely reduced.
  6. Auctioneer reserves the right to reject unreasonable bids.
  7. Bids received after the deadline will not be considered.
  8. Auctioneer's decisions are final.
  9. All lots are sold "as is" without warranty by auctioneer or FICC. In case of a dispute, the auctioneer will contact the seller and provide the name of the buyer and nature of the dispute to allow direct settlement.
  10. The club receives a 10% fee from each lot sold. The fee will be split between the seller and the buyer. [Note: All proceeds from donated lots go directly to the FICC treasury.]
  11. Shipping charges are added to buyer's total. Lots will be mailed using normal USPS rates. Insurance/certified mailing (or registration for international mailings) will be added for any group of winning lots totaling more than $200. This is optional at buyer's expense for mailings under $200.
  12. Payment may be requested before shipment.
  13. Bids received after the deadline will not be considered.
  14. Phone bids not accepted.

Guidelines for submitting lots to the next auction.

  1. Submit lots to the Auction Manager.
  2. Include an invoice with your name and address, 1-line descriptions of the lots including cat. #, current cat. value, and minimum acceptable bid (optional). Note: Scott catalog is the default, but first issues listed by other catalogs are welcome too.
  3. Include any items you wish to donate to the club. All proceeds from these lots will go the FICC treasury.
  4. If you include an e-mail address, I will confirm receipt of the lots by email. Otherwise, I'll confirm receipt by postal mail (this costs the club postage).
  5. The club receives a 10% fee from each lot sold - split between the seller and the buyer. Thus, the total of revenue to each seller will be reduced by 5%.
  6. All unsold lots plus revenue from sold lots will be returned at the end of the sale. Postage (and insurance if specified when the lots were submitted) will be deducted from the lot revenue.
  7. The editor and auctioneer reserve the right to limit the size of the auction depending on available space in the newsletter. Every effort will be made to include all lots submitted. In the event that the auction must be limited, preference will be given to lots containing #1's and first issue sets, BOB #1's/sets and change in government #1's/sets.
