Cook Island - why?

Our catalog stops abruptly in 1993... Do you have info on the newer "first issues"? Will you share with the rest of the class? Please? Hint: there's plenty of links to e-mail addresses on the site

Also, if allowed, the first English Regional in 2001. If the 1958s of Wales etc count, then this should. The Gibbons number is EN1, but I'm not sure of the Scott number.

Nick Nick, Can you give a short description of say, date of issue, denomination, etc. That way, I can look in the Scott catalogs and provide a Sc# too. Tim

Thanks Nick, I shall try and find the stamp in Scott on my nex trip to the library where they have the latest catalogs. As for your notes 66.1 (Aruba) and 66.2 (Macedonia), The Aruba set you describe is Sc#18-21 issued 01Jan86. The first set for Scott goes from 1-17 and was released over 4 issue dates from 01Jan86 to 17July87. As for Macedonia, Scott lists #RA1 issued on 30Dec91, RA2-RA9 issued on 01Mar92, RA10-RA13 issued on 08May92, and RA14-17 issued on 01June92 -- all preceding the Sc#1 stamp issued on 08Sep92. Hope this helps on your web site. Don't hesitate to ask me questions of this nature that I might be able to help with. Sometimes knowing the answers feels good.

Hi Tim
The Gibbons description is:
2 Apr 2001 EN1 (2nd) slate-green and silver Three Lions.
Cheers Nick Nick, Made a stop at the local library on the way home from work. Scott lists this stamp (as part of a 5-stamp set) under a regional heading of England just before the other regionals of N Ireland, Scotland, and Wales&Monmouthshire. The set is is numbered Sc#1-5 (making it an official #1). Scott, however, gives the issue date for #1-4 as 23 Apr 2001 rather than 2 Apr 2001 as you cite above. Issue date for #5 is 4 July 2002, but still considered part of the set. The set is: - #1 - 3 lions pictured on a 2nd denominated stamp - #2 - Crowned lion on a 1st denominated stamp - #3 - Oak tree on an E denominated stamp - #4 - Tudor rose on a 65p denominated stamp - #5 - Tudor rose on a 68p denominated stamp Nick, can you tell me what the denominations of 2nd, 1st and E stand for? Are these classes of mail? Also, are these still for sale through the local post office? I'd like a set if they are. Tim

Continuing from my Sep 14th posts, here are 3 more entries in the post 1993 era... 23Apr2001 - England Regional (listed under Gr Brit in Scott, just before Northern Ireland regionals) set range = Sc#1-5, perf = 15x14, wmk = ??, desc = 2nd, 1st, E, 65p 68p denominations.
29Apr2000 - UNTAET/East Timor (listed under Timor) set range = Sc#350-351, perf = 14, wmk = ??, desc = DOM (10c) and INT (25c) denominations. [Note, some may consider this as simply a change in government, but I consider it to be a new country that achieved independence and resumed issuing stamps - like some of the CIS countries in the early 1990s.]
14Mar2000 - UNMIK/UN offices in Kosovo set range = Sc#1-5, perf = 13.5x13, wmk = unwmk, desc = 20, 30, 50 pfennig, 1, 2 mark denominations. [Note, if Kosovo ever sets up its own postal administration, I presume these stamps will be listed as #1-5 under Kosovo just like the UNTEA stamps are listed as #1-19 under West Irian.]

From Tim's post:
Nick, can you tell me what the denominations of 2nd, 1st and E stand for? Are these classes of mail? Also, are these still for sale through the local post office? I'd like a set if they are. Does that quote button only work on the latest post in a thread?
On denominations, 2 is second class, 1 is first class E covers European airmal. The prices at the time were 19p, 27p and 36p. 65p was the worldwide airmail rate and I presume that increased to 68p for the EN5.
You're right on the date - 23rd - my mistake - perhaps the new glasses aren't that good.
I'll send you a set - can you remind me of your address?
Does anyone else want a #1 or a set?
Nick

Does anyone else want a #1 or a set? Nick Nick, You might try buying 2 or 3 of the #1s and placing them in the next auction. There are a LOT of auction bidders who do not frequent this web site. All's the pity. Tim
