Free Scott Monthly
« on: September 01, 2004, 11:42:37 AM »

I'm tired of being messed about by Amos. I took out an online subscription which worked for a month and then they couldn't trace me. I ordered it by mail on 1st June and having just queried it after three months they have no record of my order, despite the fact that I copied in their acknowledgement.

Would a US based FICC member care to take out a subscription, read the magazine and then post it on to me? Amazon.com are advertising 12-month subscriptions for $23.95. Maybe it is cheaper elsewhere. Let me know what it will cost including postage to the UK and I'll PayPal the total. If you can get the back-issue with the recent article on Indian States, please include that.

Cheers

Nick,
Sorry to hear of your troubles with the folks at Amos.  [And Americans wonder why companies are outsourcing so many jobs to non-US...]  The have just changed format from a tabloid appearance to a full-color 8.5x11 inch magazine appearance.  I just received my first issue in the nrew format with color splashed across the front (and throughout) - much like a super-hero comic book.  A huge shift for them - but that should not have bearing on the competence of their subscription department.

I have a personal subscription, but like to keep the issues for reference, so forward posting is not in my camp.  I could try a new subscription in a different name (to my address) and then forward that, but the expense would be pretty high.  The last issue was 106 pages and weighs 6.4 ounces - not economical to re-post internationally.  [By the way, the issue with the India article was the last in their old format, so would not be available to start with.  I shall photocopy mine and include it with winning lots from the auction just ended.]

There is an online subscription available, which I presume is full content of the hardcopy.  Is that an option.  Perhaps there is a print option available from the online service for those special articles you wish to keep.

If you wish to continue exploring a hardcopy subscription, send me a private email.
