If you subscribe to "Linn's Stamp News", then no doubt you already know that there is an interesting article in the March 21, 2005 issue on page 34 about the first Korean stamps, complete with color pics of the first five stamps.

You are right, Linns had a good article on Korea.  Also on page 36 (Collectors workshop) there is an article on "One cover per country worldwide collection) which sort of reminds me how I got interested in number ones.  I was thinking about collecting covers by country (not all #1) to add to the page.  One page per #one stamp with the stamp details, a description of the country and an on-piece example.  However, as the more I thought about it, I concluded the envelope would take away from the number one stamp.

The thing that got my attention is the article mentions 536 stamp issuing countries and 330 between 1840 through 1940.  I wonder what was ythe qualification of a stamp issuing country. From the small number I have to assume countries like India and China are considered one and exclude provinces.  Probably does not include change of gov't, offices and maybe not ocupation stamps. When I consider all of these I get a list of over 900.
