As reported in a separate post on my attending the APS StampShow in Chicago last week, I purchased a collection of 14 New Republic Sc#1s with different issue dates. This was 1 of 128 lots of New Republic Stamps stemming from the breakup of a very nice collection (of an unidentified collector). One of the other lots was a somewhat damaged copy of a used SG#1 (SC#1A), that fetched $2800, I believe.
Dates on my stamps include: 9Jan86, 13Jan86, 7Mar86, 17Mar86, 24Apr86, 24May86, 30Aug86, 6Sep86, 13Oct86, 3Nov86, 13Nov86, 24Nov86, 4Jan87 and 17Jan87. I inspected the stamps before the auction began - just to satisfy my own need to substantiate the "spur" on the E of NEW that Dave Olson has previously reported as an identifier of a genuine issue. That went well, as did an inspection of the gum. All had original gum except for one MNG stamp.
According to Gibbons pricing, I did quite well. The remaining 9 issue dates for Sc#1 (SG#2) do not have CVs cited in my 2001 Gibbons catalogue. Thus, I believe I have just acquired a "complete" collection of those issues which are available on the market.
[An aside... Dave, if you read this, I compared my issue dates to the list you provided in V1N5 of the newsletter. My copy of Gibbons does not list an SG#2 being issued on 30Jun86. I do not know if this means the catalog was revised or what.]
If anyone would like scans of the stamps, or would like to inspect them in person, drop me a note and we can arrange something.
