Special Auction 2
« on: October 03, 2006, 10:49:47 AM »

Some preliminary news on this auction, as I am still trying to get folks notified of their winning lots.  The auction had 1803 bids by 34 bidders.  Thank goodness for the programs I wrote to handle these auctions smoothly.  I believe all but 1 bidder won at least 1 lot.  [The member who was "shut out" submitted only 3 bids.]  As expected, the Indian States drew very heavy bidding, but it was lot #85 (Elobey #1) which drew the largest number of indiviual bids, 16.  I have not computed the total of the winning bids, but the club will certainly get a boost.  These auctions always give me a bit of mixed emotions.  I hate to see a member move on in a different direction, but I always enjoy seeing the remaining members fill in some spaces in their albums.
